Thomas Vermaelen's had an anti-inflammatory injection for the second time this season in a hope to abate his ankle situation. If this doesn't work, he may be forced into surgery to rectify the problem which could have him out for up to 6 weeks.
So that means Blackburn this Saturday in the FA Cup is a definite miss, and don't hold your breath for the Bayern Munich clash either.
On a lighter note, Jack Wilshire's knock isn't too serious and he should be returning to full training in the next few days. He'll probably be rested for the Blackburn game in order to start against the German's in the Champions League on February 19th.
