FLORIAN THAUVIN FOR £6 MILLION - THAT'S IF WE ACTUALLY WANT HIM?

AFC's rumor of the day has us and Newcastle in for the 20 year-old French attacking midfielder, Florian Thauvin from Ligue 1 outfit Bastia.

That's all well and good, but I seem to remember Le Prof recently stating - "We're looking to bring in one, maybe two exceptional players this January, possibly etc, etc..."

And, that's if you believe anything Arsene Wener has to say these days?

So, wait, where exactly on the priority list does our prospective new striker fit in?
What about the heavily speculated defensive midfielder?
And the established and much needed left back. Huh?

Hey why don't we just throw in a new manager while we're at it! (Don't get me started).

Back to Florian Who-vin?
Seriously - I'm handing out 10 Brownie points to anyone who actually knew who the f*#k this kid was before the rumors this weekend. Honestly...

Anyways, he does seem to be one of the nation's hottest young prospects, and although he may not be the established marquee signing we are all pining for, the lad comfortably plays on either the left or right but with his preferred position being straight down the center.
And we all know that diversity gets Wenger's rocks off so it's seems feasible...

So lets prep ourselves for another bloody French wonder-kid in the making. Because if there's any truth in the reported statement from Bastia club Chairman Pierre-Marie Geronimi, he's apparently already received two phone calls this week from Arsene Wenger looking to aquire the under 20's France International's services.

Well, shit - roll out the red and white carpet.

But then again it could all be a load of crap, and by the time I wake up tomorrow it'll be back to reading about 'triggering' clauses left, right and center and putting in fresh bids for Jack Charlton, Pele and three-and-a-half month old Thiago Messi's signature. Messy - signature. Get it?

At this stage in the window, I'll be happy to see anyone arrive. If anything, just to restore a little faith.

I can't upload the video but click on the link below to take a look at the youngster in action...

He has three goals and two assists in 19 Ligue One appearances so far this season.
