NACHO MONREAL IS AN ARSENAL PLAYER

The left back has signed a four-and-a-half year deal in the region of £50,000-per-week.
Arsene Wenger: 'We are delighted that Nacho Monreal has agreed to join us. We have been monitoring him for some time now and are really pleased that we’ve been able to agree this move today.
'Monreal is a strong left-sided defender with good experience at both club and international level. He is a technically gifted player, a good crosser in the final third and strong in the air. Monreal will add quality to our squad and of course, to our defensive unit. We all look forward to him playing for us.'
Not exactly the marquee player we were all waiting for, but we welcome you Nacho and all the abuse that will come with your unfortunate name.

UPDATE - NACHO SET TO SIGN! - 9:28pm GMT

Arsenal have confirmed on their official website that Nacho Libre is set to join.

Will keep you posted...

DEADLINE DAY NEWS - 6:59pm GMT

Why do we always leave it to the 11th hour to do our dealings?
I seriously think the board plan this just to mess with our blood pressure.

But apparently we're back on track for a few possible signings...

And if poor Gibbsy wasn't taken off yesterday with a thigh injury, it's debatable wether we'd be hearing these rumors regarding Nacho Monreal at all.

The Mail Online is reporting that Monreal is already in London having a medical before penning a transfer for around £8.5 million from Santi's old club Malaga.

The 26 year-old left back who's real name is Ignacio Monreal Eraso, has nine caps for his native Spain, and at 5'10" he isn't the largest man at the back, but as long as he's a better option than Santos, well then I'm happier than a pig in shiz!

I can already hear his name in the terraces...

UPDATE - GIBBS OUT GOR THREE WEEKS

Kieran Gibbs is out for three crucial weeks after coming off in the 37th minute against Liverpool.

"He has a thigh strain that rules him out for the next three weeks. It's a blow for us of course," Wenger said. "He was an important player for us going forward and the game we wanted to play. It's a shame he's out for the next three weeks."

Gibbs will miss games against Stoke, Sunderland and more than likely Bayern Munich too.

That now leaves us with Santos...

I obviously feel for Gibbs, but this really could be a blessing in disguise at it may salvage this horrendous transfer window.

Go buy Baines, please!

GUNNERS vs SCOUSERS - REVIEW AND RATINGS

A 2 - 2 draw isn't a terrible result considering Liverpool's current form and our shoddy defending, goalkeeping and confidence.

The first half was pretty much an equal affair with Liverpool edging it slightly with the 1 - 0 lead at halftime.
Walcott squandered an eight yard half-volley from an exquisite Jack Wilshire thru-ball, but to be fair Pepe Reina was on the button today as usual. Shortly after, the Liverpool keeper made an excellent finger-tip save from Walcott's 'stinging' edge-of-the-box effort.

Giroud had a decent chance but glanced a weak head directly into Pepe Reina's hands. The Frenchman sometimes seems to over think his headers despite being very good in the air. If he actually netted all the 'should-have's' this season he'd probably be the leagues highest scorer... Still, he's getting better with each game which is the diametric opposite to Sagna these days. Which brings me to the first goal...

It basically shouldn't have happened - in Arsenal's eyes.
Yet again, Bacary makes a stupid mistake which costs us dearly. It's out of character for a player recently regarded as the best right back in the league.
If he wants to leave, then I really hope it's a swift departure!
His horrible positioning on Suarez left the back four totally caught out, and then when he could have redeemed the situation - he slips over letting the ball roll behind his and Suarez pounce. It was almost comical.

I hate to admit it, and despite being a dirty, cheating, camel-looking, racist (allegedly) Suarez is absolutely deadly in front of every goal he faces. Every time he gets the ball people rise from their seats. Hands down one of the best strikers in the World at the moment.

In the second half we started much stronger as we have done this season, why is that?
After consistent pressing we then get caught out and go 2 - 0 down to Jordan Hensderson's persistence. Mertesacker was diabolic yet again. One of his most sluggish performances yet. Where is our consistency?

Only four minutes later and Johnson fouls Walcott outside the 18 yard box down the other end . Wilshire's cross is swung in, connects with Giroud's head about 8 yards out and down and in to the goal. Finally 'we' benefit from a set-piece rather than the other way round, we have let in far too many in these instances.

Minutes later in the 67th, Giroud's cushened lay-off to Walcott is lashed from an acute angle, beating Reina at the far post.

Agger had a header cleared off the line by Poldi while Shezney was lacing up his lead-boots. Giroud should have burried his brace but the ping-ponging ball didn't favor us on the day.

All in all, a pretty fair result as it really could have gone either way.

ARSENAL PLAYER RATINGS:

Wojciech Szczesny - 5 - Was unlucky to be put in front of both Suarez and Henderson for both the Goals but his over-confidence is his downfall. He has flashes of excellence which he displayed today, denying Suarez at the death but he needs to keep his head strait for the full 90.

Per Mertesacker - 3 - Awful game, seemed like he had the flu. Again, where was the player we saw a few weeks back? Should stick to collecting the 'players late-fee fines'.

Bacary Sagna - 4 - He had a dire first half and came out trying in the second, but overall, he just looks like he doesn't have it any more.

Thomas Vermaelen - 5 - Better than the previous two, not a touch on Gibbs who left with an injury after only 37 minutes. His form is still back-peddling which is a major concern for our defensive rock and supposed Captain.

Andre Santos - 2 - He gets two points for managing not to have a heart attack on the pitch. Go home.

Aaron Ramsey - 4.5 - Last game aside, he looks a fraction better than his usual shite. I strongly believe he shouldn't be in the Premier League. As inconsistent as ever. Back-heeled the ball for Suarez to score. Say no more.

Jack Wilshire - 7.5 - Took a tough game in his stride, fouled off the ball a lot in the first half and thankfully kept his mouth shut the whole game. Very professional, a few key passes that could have been assists. Finally turned one in to 'just that' for Giroud's header. Joint man of the match with Walcott in my opinion.

Santi Cazorla - 6 - Has gone a little stale since the begining of the season but no lack of effort as usual. I think morale is hindering his performance, Santi's a flair player and thrives off the team around him. He played a big part in Theo's goal and hopefully left with his head held high.

Lukas Podolski - 6 - Despite being played out of position, he stills puts in 100% every game. His crosses are getting better and his goal-line clearance saved us today. I think we've a lot more to see from Prince Poldi...

Theo Walcott - 7.5 - Could have had a hat-trick today even though he only managed one goal. Wasn't one of his best displays but he's getting into goal scoring positions even when he's out on the wing. His goal was excellently struck, Arsenal's top scorer and I'm delighted he signed up after all that time.

Olivier Giroud - 6.5 - He's getting there, slowly but surely. Much like Theo - he could have had few more today. Should have done better with the first header but came good with the cross from Wilshire.

UPDATE - THAUVIN TO LILLE

Supposed Arsenal target Florian Thauvin, is set to leave Bastia for a transfer fee of £3.5 million to the 2010-11 Ligue 1 Champions Lille.

Lille currently sit in 11th place and are hoping the 20-year-old starlet will be their answer to Eden Hazard's winter departure to Chel$ki.

They can have Gervinho back while they're at it.

WAKE UP! WE WERE NEVER BUYING VILLA.

Read it and weep. - No, not me.

Don't get me wrong, David Villa 'was' a World class player. We all know that, anyone who tries to argue that is obviously blind.

He's still a 'great' player, but he ain't a great deal. Not for us anyway, not at 32 years-old and just back from injury. Not when we're trying to build a strong, young core of players.

It isn't Wenger's style. I can see a 32 year-old experienced defender maybe, but not for a striker. And why spend all the time, money, tactical preparation and prowess to emulate Barcelona when we're not aiming to compete with them?

That means, buying their out-of-favor players!

And even at a massively reduced transfer fee, which is a necessity for Arsene to even consider him. We all know that Wenger wouldn't release those purse-strings even if his life depended on it! I believe that 'riggor mortis' set in years back.

All David Villa would do is temporarily stem the flow on our sinking ship, in my eyes that isn't good enough for a team like Arsenal.

We shouldn't be settling for second best, or f*#king 4th for that matter!

We should be breaking the bank for players like Cavani, Fellaini and Baines etc, etc.

Believe me, I'm like the next guy, deflated almost to the point of breaking during this January transfer window.

... If you put Chamakh in a box, wrapped it in paper and pinned an £8 mill price tag to his greasy mullet I'd probably jump for joy as he burst out in an Arsenal strip!

Just so we can say we did something. "Wenger kept his word this time!"

By all means, keep the cards close to your chest Arsene. Tactics 'n all that... But I honestly believe that when Giroud started scoring recently, Wenger let out a massive sigh of relief for all the wrong reasons.

Villa wasn't coming - he's too old, too expensive and Barca don't want to sell him.

We can do better.

BECKHAM TRAINS WITH THE ARSENAL

Golden balls returns to Shenley Training Centre in Hertfordshire for another stint with the greatest team the World has ever seen.

David last joined the Gunners for training sessions back in 2008 and will be back at London Colney while he ponders a move to either mega-rich PSG, or a deal to take him back to A.C Milan where he's previously spent two loan spells already.

Apparently Arsene Wenger's to blame for Romeo Beckham's adoration for Arsenal football club. All the other kids are ManUre fans like daddy.

It's reported that David desperately wanted to keep his training plans a secret for obvious reasons.

Sucks to be David huh!

Oh well, he can drown his sorrows at our luxury facility which homes ten pitches spread over 143 acres, two of which have under soil heating, indoor and outdoor swimming pools and state-of-the-art cardio and weight training rooms; just to name a few of the center's features.

It must be tough getting up for work in the mornings.

DOES FER TO EVERTON, MEAN FELLAINI TO ARSENAL?

Everton have confirmed - on their official website - their agreement to sign Dutch International midfielder Leroy Fer from FC Twente.

The 23 year-old who's nicknamed 'The Bouncer' due to his large stature may be just what the Toffee's need as a replacement, if they were to sell Fellaini to Arsenal that is. Just sayin.

At a reported £8.5 million, Fer has been compared to ex-Gunner Patrick Viera due to similarities both on and off the field.
The young powerhouse stands at 6'2", just two inches shorter than Fellaini.
I think however, Marouane's actually about 5'7" and they've been counting his barnet into the equation this whole time.

Christ, give me a Kid 'n Play hairstyle and you can start nicknaming me 'mini Shaquille'.
Just like Van Persie's kid... Oh wait - that's his real name!

Who names their sprog 'Shaquille?' Seriously. That's child abuse.

Fellaini may cost a pretty penny at around £25 million, but for a seriously established Premier League contender like himself I don't think we should balk at the price.
He definitely has the bite that only Jack Wilshire seems to possess for us right now, and unless we harness that grit and determination and lather it across the whole squad, well then we need to purchase someone who already has it.
And then, maybe we can start focusing past 4th place again.

Anyone who can absolutely 'own' Shawcross (multiple times) like he did that day. Despite the ban etc, he definitely gets an 'A' for effort in my book.

Buy him Wenger!

We know you rate him!

Open the check book!

Restore some faith!

... Please?

UNITED WE STAND?

This banner was the catalyst for a brawl that broke out at Brighton's Amex stadium on Saturday afternoon. Punches between fellow Gooners were exchanged around the 80th minute of Arsenal's 3-2 FA cup win over the League one side.

Come on ladies, great fodder for the tabloids!

Both parties were quite rightly ejected from the stadium immediately after the incident was defused.

Back to the banner - what do you think...?

FLORIAN THAUVIN FOR £6 MILLION - THAT'S IF WE ACTUALLY WANT HIM?

AFC's rumor of the day has us and Newcastle in for the 20 year-old French attacking midfielder, Florian Thauvin from Ligue 1 outfit Bastia.

That's all well and good, but I seem to remember Le Prof recently stating - "We're looking to bring in one, maybe two exceptional players this January, possibly etc, etc..."

And, that's if you believe anything Arsene Wener has to say these days?

So, wait, where exactly on the priority list does our prospective new striker fit in?
What about the heavily speculated defensive midfielder?
And the established and much needed left back. Huh?

Hey why don't we just throw in a new manager while we're at it! (Don't get me started).

Back to Florian Who-vin?
Seriously - I'm handing out 10 Brownie points to anyone who actually knew who the f*#k this kid was before the rumors this weekend. Honestly...

Anyways, he does seem to be one of the nation's hottest young prospects, and although he may not be the established marquee signing we are all pining for, the lad comfortably plays on either the left or right but with his preferred position being straight down the center.
And we all know that diversity gets Wenger's rocks off so it's seems feasible...

So lets prep ourselves for another bloody French wonder-kid in the making. Because if there's any truth in the reported statement from Bastia club Chairman Pierre-Marie Geronimi, he's apparently already received two phone calls this week from Arsene Wenger looking to aquire the under 20's France International's services.

Well, shit - roll out the red and white carpet.

But then again it could all be a load of crap, and by the time I wake up tomorrow it'll be back to reading about 'triggering' clauses left, right and center and putting in fresh bids for Jack Charlton, Pele and three-and-a-half month old Thiago Messi's signature. Messy - signature. Get it?

At this stage in the window, I'll be happy to see anyone arrive. If anything, just to restore a little faith.

I can't upload the video but click on the link below to take a look at the youngster in action...

He has three goals and two assists in 19 Ligue One appearances so far this season.

EX-SPURS SCUMBAG PROVES MONEY 'CAN' BUY INTELLIGENCE...

As Klinsmann's now the U.S. Mens National Team Coach and earns is paid a hefty 2.5 mil a year; Jürgen has recently acquired his helicopter pilot license to beat the Southern California traffic. He's rumored to have been flying his chopper from his home in Orange County to the LA training facility.
Absolute genius!

And it pains me to write that...

But despite his torrid past, I actually struggle to despise the ex-German bomber.

And that's bizarre as Tottenham have thus far influenced my hatred in many things merely associated with their existence:

... The color white, Adebeyor, blue cockerel logo's, the letter 'T'... I even boycotted drinking Holsten Pils back in the day - would rather drink my own piss! And you'd never catch me printing shit on a Hewlett-Packard. Fuck no!

Anyway, take that snippet of useless info and...
